Dental screenings, dental cleanings, fluoride treatment, sealants, and dental education were provided to 1,622 Beaufort and Jasper County children last year by the Ronald McDonald Dental Care Mobile. A total of 4,528 procedures were performed that enhanced the health and well-being of children in our community.
“We believe that when you change a child’s life, you change a family’s, which can change a community, and ultimately the world. Through our programs we strive to change the lives of as many children as possible. The Dental Care Mobile program is impacting the lives of children and families every day,” said Executive Director Nicole Gore-Layton.
The Dental Care Mobile also links children who don’t have a dentist to a dental home where they may receive regular dental care. Nearly two thirds of the children served by the Dental Care Mobile do not receive Medicaid benefits.
The Ronald McDonald Dental Care Mobile is one of 32 agencies and 42 programs funded by United Way of the Lowcountry.
United Way of the Lowcountry, Inc. today reports that $2,123,536 has been contributed to fund 76% of the programs, partnerships and services required by Beaufort and Jasper residents.
United Way of the Lowcountry campaign contributions fund partnerships and collaborations with 32 agencies and 42 programs in Beaufort and Jasper counties that focus on one or more priorities to achieve better HEALTH, EDUCATION, SHELTER, NUTRITION and INCOME for local residents and workers.
Chairing the 2011 United Way of the Lowcountry Community Campaign are Peter Post for the Beaufort area; Phyllis Doyle for Bluffton/Jasper County; and Mike Petrilli for Hilton Head Island. Bonnie Bennett is Vice Chair for the Jasper County campaign.
