Help Line callers have needs that range from a simple phone number to help with a life-threatening situation. United Way staff members have training and resources to provide information and referrals to those who call the Help Line numbers:

Beaufort:

In 2008 the United Way Help Line serviced 2124 calls. Of those calls, more than half occurred in November and December. Calls were most frequently requests for emergency assistance with utilities, food and rent, and requests for information and referral. Other types of requested services varied depending on the season. In May for instance heavy call volumes were for air conditioning units, and in August many calls were received asking for assistance with school supplies, etc.
