“Children who are taken from their homes due to abuse and/or neglect do not always have a relative available to take them in. The Open Arms Shelter is operated in a quiet neighborhood and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Last year 85 children lived in a safe, healthy, nurturing environment.”
• Susan Cato, Executive Director, Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA)
“The mission of Lowcountry Habitat for Humanity – to create long-term partnerships to build affordable housing for families in need – manifests itself perfectly in our affordable housing program. We have finished construction on 28 homes in Beaufort, St. Helena, Yemassee and Port Royal. This includes housing for over 90 individuals. 100% of the loans are being paid on time and 100% of the families are still in their homes.”
• Brenda Dooley, Executive Director, Lowcountry Habitat for Humanity
